Empty Properties

Empty properties have the potential to provide homes for those in greatest need, resulting in a steady income for the house owner if they choose to let. A signficant return could also be realised if an owner chooses to sell.

An advice booklet is available for anyone looking to return their property to the available housing stock. Advice is available on renting, loans, selling, renovation, leasing and social letting.

Houses to Homes Loans

Welsh Government recently highlighted there there are a considerable number of long term empty properties and have emphasized the need for empty homes in Wales to be brought back into use through an 'Interest Free Loan Scheme' (for upto 3 years).

Welsh Government are providing £10 million across Wales to fund an Interest Free Loan Scheme for Empty Property Owners (entitled 'Houses to Homes' Scheme). Funding will aim to bring up to 5,000 properties back into use across Wales.

Loan amounts are available upto £25,000 per property with a maximum loan of £150,000 per applicant. In setting up the loan there will be some administration and legal costs and the valuation of the property and any existing borrowing against it will be taken into consideration.
